Donor Cows
B3R donor cows are proven cows, not prospects. Our donors are cows that have proven to be sound, structurally correct and capable of covering long distances. To qualify for this elite group, a cow must be at least 10 years of age, have a calving interval less than 370 days, eight natural calves, production history that in total will ratio over 100 for Weaning Weight, Yearling Weight, Intramuscular Fat (IMF), and Ribeye, and has a history of being a Pathfinder. A cow that has done this in our harsh environment (2011 temperatures have ranged from minus eight to plus 123 degrees), and survived gyp water and rough 1200 acre pastures with no supplemental forage. Through the years, these cows have averaged 22 plus viable embryos per flush (nearly four times the breed average). The Bradley 3 Ranch donor cows are proven not only for their production capabilities, but for unmatched fertility and longevity. We believe these are traits that will reduce costs as well as increase profits.
If maternal traits are important to your program, pedigrees that carry some of these donor cows will add maternal traits to your herd. For instance, a bull that sells in our sale who has three donor cows in his pedigree would have at least 30 years of proven maternal ability backing him genetically. Few, if any, other Angus breeders can make this claim in the bulls they market!
