“Built on Tradition, Focused on the Future Sale Results”

Progressive cattlemen from seven states bid actively at the Bradley 3 Ranch bull sale in Estelline, TX on February 9. Compared to the last several sales, the weather was beautiful. Many cattlemen in the crowd commented on both the quality of the bulls and the longevity of the Bradley 3 Ranch program. This year will mark the 50th year of registered Angus cattle finding their home on this outfit.

Lot 9 went home with long time friend of the Bradley’s and repeat buyer Lynn Cowden (Texas). One half semen interest and one half possession sold for $13,000. The bull was sired by B3R 0128 Rito 3091 4004 and he found many friends in the pens. Extra powerful in his phenotype, Lot 9 presented one of the most balanced EPD, performance and GeneSTAR packages in the sale.

Roy Hartzog (Texas), another repeat customer, waited a long way into the sale (the bulls sell in catalog order) to make Lot 173 the second high selling lot. One half semen interest and one half possession sold for $11,000. The bull is a son of B3R PO50 MO48 Cafd MO24 and he was the only bull in the sale that carried all the GeneSTAR markers for both feed efficiency and tenderness. Mr. Hartzog is also a partner in B3R N193 854E Emblazon 9180, a calving ease sire that was recently leased by Ultimate Genetics.

Lot 1 was the next high seller at $9500 for one half semen interest and one half possession. He sold to Ron Brown (Texas). The B3R P060 Volunteer M037 son posted the sale offering’s biggest performance read with a 755 weaning weight (no creep), 1336 yearling weight, 4.94 average daily gain on test, 4.95 IMF and 14.8 ribeye area.

Lots 3 and 7 were the next high sellers at $9,000 for full interest and possession. They sold to Rick Murphy (Texas) and to Lynn Cowden respectively.

More than ninety five percent of the sale offering sold to commercial breeders. These producers demanded bulls that have muscle, fleshing ability and soundness and the Bradley bulls delivered.

154 bulls sold to average $3825.

The next Bradley 3 Ranch bull sale will be held on February 14, 2009.
