Rapid Fire Bidding at the Bradley 3 Ranch Sale
In what will be labeled one of the exciting sales of this spring, Bradley 3 Ranch, sold 175 bulls for an average of $4412. True to the traditions of Bradley 3 Ranch, hospitality was great and the bulls were thick, sound and offered calving ease backed by generations of known performance.
Sale events began on Friday afternoon with a panel discussion of industry speakers about ways you can add value to your calf crop. This meeting is just one more way the Bradley’s go the extra mile to keep their customers up to date and informed about ways to be profitable in the industry.
At the start of Saturday’s sale, Bradley 3 Ranch was recognized by Pfizer Animal Genetics for having 9 head of only 20 head in the U.S that meet the criteria of animals to be in the top 20% for all genetic markers of animals tested by Pfizer for their 56 marker panel.
Cattlemen and women from eight states, including Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Florida, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Tennessee filled the stands or bid on Superior Livestock. Some of Texas’ most historical ranches and the nation’s largest commercial cattle operations were represented at the sale and showed their confidence in this time tested program.
The sale kicked off by selling what had been labeled in the sale ads as “one good horse”. The four year old gelding by Playing Stylish was trained and offered by ranch foreman, Robert Hodge. World Champion Roper, Roy Cooper bid $12,000 to own the gelding.
In the fast paced and exciting bull sale, long time customer, TR Land and Cattle, knew the value of the Bradley 3 Ranch genetics as they bid to purchase $14,000 to own ½ interest in the top selling bull. B3R Replicate U019, a son of the notorious 203 Bradley donor cow and full brother to Bradley herd sire “N117” had posted impressive yearling performance: 5.12 average daily gain, 16.7 ribeye area, 5.87 IMF and 1.20 ribeye / cwt.
TR Land and Cattle also took home the second high selling bull, Lot 24. One half-interest sold in B3R Arrival U129 sold for $9,000. Labeled as the stoutest bull to ever sell at Bradley 3 Ranch, Arrival posted a 16.3 ribeye area, 5.92 IMF and weaned at 68.4% of his dam’s body weight.
Long time friend and repeat customer, Lynn Cowden, bid to purchase the next two high sellers. Lot 2 was sired by a previous Bradley 3 Ranch sale high seller, “S039” and was impressive on both grass gain at 3.55 pounds per day and feed test gain at 3.64. He also weaned at 67.3% of his dam’s body weight. Couple this data with calving ease, big scrotal, stout IMF and ribeye area numbers and Lot 2 was one of the most complete individuals in this year’s sale offering. His additional selection, Lot 13, also sold for $8,000. This “N117” son presented a similar numeric tabulation to the Lot 2 bull and also had been designated as Elite Tender because of his GeneSTAR MVP for tenderness.
On a final note, the high averaging sire group of the sale was by B3R Tender Ten R065, at $6000 on fourteen head. Tender Ten is leased to ABS Global and is fast gaining notoriety as sire that combines calving ease, muscle and efficiency.
